THE ESSENTIAL NEEDS OF CANNABIS

How to support it indoors? Cannabis is a plant and its growth rate is visible to the naked eye from one day to the next. However, to be able to grow properly, it needs a set of environmental conditions and certain nutrients after legalization of cannabis cultivation in Africa.

THE RESOURCES

Light in quantity, carbon dioxide and oxygen, a mild temperature (+ or – 25 ° C), water, aerated substrate and sufficient nutrients. That will delight any cannabis plant. It is important to understand that all the factors listed above are crucial. Which means that if only one of them runs out, the plant will stop growing. The process by which the plant grows is called photosynthesis: thanks to chlorophyll (the green pigment of the plant), it is able, by absorbing light energy, to transform CO2 into glucose (sugar). It is with this sugar combined with mineral salts from the soil or the nutrient solution that the plant makes its own organic material. If outside, it is the nature which is in charge to regulate these parameters (with the ups and downs that it implies), inside, it is the farmer to try to imitate himself the nature in using technical means: lamps, fertilizer, ventilation, watering cycles … If it succeeds, it will offer these plants constant optimal conditions, which is rarely the case on the outside.

What are the ideal environmental conditions for cannabis and how to recreate them artificially?

THE LIGHT

It is necessary for the plant to assimilate CO2 and develop. Indoors it is the discharge lamp that will try to replace the sun. Without enough light, the plants will grow stunted and stunted. A minimum of 400 W per m2 is generally used.

CO2 AND OXYGEN

They are in the air and are used for photosynthesis. Renewing the air must be provided by an inlet duct fan, called “intractor” (it brings air rich in CO2, fresh and “pure” from the outside in the space of culture) and by that of air outlet, called “extractor” (it evacuates the hot air, low in CO2 and polluted by the transpiration of the plants from the growing space to the outside). This installation (intraction + extraction) also regulates temperature and humidity.
